Truckful Controls and Keyboard Remap Guide
How to remap Truckful keyboard controls with the keyboard.txt file added in Patch 1.0.2, plus confirmed controller and PlayStation support.
Truckful recommends a gamepad and has full controller support, including DualShock and DualSense since Patch 1.0.1. To remap keyboard keys, run the game once, then edit keyboard.txt in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\MythicOwl\Truckful\ (added in Patch 1.0.2).
On this page
Truckful is built for a controller. The Steam page lists full controller support and recommends a gamepad, and Patch 1.0.1 added PlayStation DualShock and DualSense support. Keyboard players had a rougher launch: Patch 1.0.1 listed keyboard rebinding and controller schemes as known issues, and Patch 1.0.2 answered with a remapping file instead of an in-game menu.
How keyboard remapping works
The file is called keyboard.txt. It is created the first time you run the game, so launch Truckful once before looking for it. On Windows it lives in your user folder under AppData, LocalLow, MythicOwl, Truckful. Back it up before you edit it so you can restore the defaults. Change the bindings, save, and restart the game.
MythicOwl has not published the default bindings or the exact file format in the patch notes, so we are not reproducing either here. Open the file and the format should be readable.
Mac and Linux
Truckful runs on macOS and Linux too, but the patch notes only give the Windows path. We have not confirmed where the file sits on the other systems and will add it once it is documented.
Other input fixes
Patch 1.0.1 also made the mouse work in the main menu, and Patch 1.0.2 removed unused buttons from the packing view. If cargo rotation felt unresponsive on day one, that was the double-input bug fixed in 1.0.1, not your controller.
Choosing between controller and keyboard
If you have a gamepad, use it. The store page recommends one, and the launch patches show where MythicOwl’s priorities were: controller support was there from day one, PlayStation pads came in 1.0.1, and keyboard remapping came in 1.0.2 as a file rather than a menu. Steam Deck works too, at roughly 40 to 60 fps according to the developer.
If you play on keyboard, remap before you get deep into the game. Cargo packing involves rotating and placing items precisely, so awkward default keys add up quickly.
