Truckful Stuck or Softlock Fix (Patch 1.0.2)

Softlocks were the most visible problem in Truckful’s launch weekend. The Patch 1.0.1 notes listed softlocks as a known issue, and one day later Patch 1.0.2 shipped tools to get out of them. This page covers only those official tools. We have not found a reliable community trick that we could verify, so we do not list one.

The cheat menu is the main fix

Patch 1.0.2 added a cheat menu. You open it by pressing X, or by clicking the green pine in the journal ten times. MythicOwl describes two uses: teleporting you to Theresa, and giving money. For a stuck truck, the teleport is what you want. It moves you out of whatever wall, ditch or cave pocket trapped you, and you can then drive back for anything you left behind.

The patch notes do not say whether the menu affects achievements or saves. We have not tested that, so treat it as unknown.

Stuck in the Hotel Hub

The same patch added an emergency escape route in the Hotel Hub. If you are trapped inside that area, look for it before reaching for the cheat menu.

Problems that look like softlocks but are not

Two launch bugs made the game feel stuck when it was really an input problem. A double-input bug limited cargo rotation and stopped some players installing skills. Patch 1.0.1 fixed it, so update first. Also, after you finish the game, Patch 1.0.2 removes Continue from the main menu on purpose. Your save is not gone.

If nothing works

Write down where you were and what you were doing, then post it in the Truckful Steam discussions. MythicOwl has been patching quickly, with two patches in the first two days, and a clear report helps.

A recovery order that wastes the least time

When the truck will not move, work through the options from least to most disruptive. First, check whether the problem is really input. On day one, the double-input bug made cargo refuse to rotate and skills refuse to install, which felt like a frozen game. If your build is older than 1.0.1, updating fixes that on its own. Second, if you are inside the Hotel Hub, look for the emergency escape route that Patch 1.0.2 added there. Third, open the cheat menu and teleport to Theresa. Fourth, if none of that works, load your last save shrine.

That last step is why shrines matter. Truckful saves at shrines, so the cost of a softlock is whatever you did since the last one. Before a long drive into the caves, tunnels or wetlands, stop at a shrine first. It turns a bad softlock into a few minutes of lost progress instead of a lost evening.

Getting your cargo back after a teleport

Teleporting moves you, not your load. If cargo fell out before you got stuck, it is still out in the world. The developer’s FAQ says lost cargo can be picked up again, and that getting hit by the Ghost Truck does not restart a run. So after teleporting, drive back the way you came and collect what you can before finishing the delivery.

Why softlocks happened at launch

Truckful’s world is semi-open and its cargo is physics-based. Routes open as you upgrade, and loads react to shape, weight and fragility. That combination produces a lot of unusual positions for a small truck to end up in, and the 1.0.1 notes listed softlocks as a known issue. MythicOwl is a seven-person studio and shipped two patches in two days, so expect further fixes. We will update this page when a new patch changes how recovery works.

What to include in a bug report

A useful report names the region, what you were carrying, what you did just before getting stuck, your platform, and your game version. Truckful runs on Windows, macOS, Linux and Google Play, so platform matters. If you use a controller, say which one, since PlayStation controller support only arrived in 1.0.1.
